Ford Fiesta 2000 model
Discussion
Has anyone got any advice regarding my son's little Fiesta that has been off the road for almost a year.
When we tried to start it up we noticed that it wouldnt start and we could not hear the fuel pump making its usual sound when the ignition was switched on. We bought an other fuel pump ( intank type)fitted it and tried to start the car but to no avail and this time the starter motor didnt seem to even engage or turn the engine over ,,,there was just a clunk sound as if a solenoid had pulled in,
I am stumped what on earth could be wrong now ....she had run very well before and never had any problems at all.
Any advice will be most welcome

Battery is knackered. Even if it has been on charge it may not be able to supply enough power for the fuel pump or to crank the engine. If it doesn't work with a known good battery, then the contacts on the starter motor may well have oxidised and gummed up. Bump starting it should work.
