Suffered my 1st ever break down in over 7 years of ownership today
came back from a long jolly this afternoon switched the motor off to open my premises doors to put the car away went to restart and ... nothing
jumped the gun and presumed my starter relay mod had failed or the inline fuse had failed but no
didn't take long to realise I couldn't even hot wire it from the relay so looked further and found that the starter trigger wire/spade had fallen off
lucky it happened here I guess than on my journey in the middle of nowhere
still if your going to break down you may as well go large
hardly ...

Good one Simon
All those tools to hand and it's just the starter trigger wire slipped off.
I bet if I breakdown in France it'll be in the middle of nowhere & something I can't fix because I've only got a limited selection of tools on board.
Will sods law prevail, or will I do all 3,000 miles without missing a beat?
Place your bets now folks
PS: There's a... "will Chimpongas run out of LPG" side bet offered at good odds

Since I'm off on honeymoon on Fri in Trevor for a similar mileage my bet is that the car will be faultless and will return excellent mpg and attract admiring glances from Johnny foreigners across europe. All those tools to hand and it's just the starter trigger wire slipped off.

I'd be interested to know what you're taking by way of tools, purely a token gesture as they clearly won't be required

Up until this year I have probably averaged 4/5 over/under the water trips a year since 2002, the only thing I have ever needed is sunglasses

That said my car is completely standard and not "improved" in any way so that might have helped

Typical TVR wiring, how many times have you been warned by the experts that it isn't up to the job?
Did you listen - no.
At least you didn't put a new starter on it, before finding out it was something else

We had an issue with ours at Goodwood yesterday. We had parked in the field and the grass was rather long although dry, car was running well, returned to the car later on as everyone was leaving, and started but very low tickover and no throttle response, thought the throttle cable so checked and was fine, then it would only fire then cut out, then during a quiet 2 seconds I managed to hear that the fuel pump wasn't running.
But we were 2 feet deep in grass, so I managed to buwwow thwough the undergwowth in true David Bellamy style and found one of the terminals pulled off (no doubt when I reversed through the jungle). She then started straight away and the gentleman next to me commented "only a TVR would do that" and "any other car owner would be on the phone to the AA or RAC".
Glad yours was an easy fix as well and we saved the embarrassment of making the dreaded phone call.
