XF Windscreen question

Not sure if anyone can help with some advise. I got a stone chip in the windscreen the other day - fairly small and on the passenger side and I would have normally taken it straight to get repaired. However, I wonder if a repair is possible as the screen is heated and water repellent - essentially would the heating elements be damaged and no longer work?

As I live in Germany, a new windscreen will probably not be in stock and will take ages.
