Hi,

Can anyone recommend some accommodation near Cwmcarn? Open minded on what type - cottage, B&B, even a youth hostel type thing potentially - as it's for eight people on a stag do.

Also keen to hear any local restaurant recommendations for a hearty meal with a few beers.

Ride Cwmcarn - stay in Cardiff, honestly.

When's your trip? There's a huge new Bikepark opening just up the road from CC in 3 weeks.

It is an option, but assumed we'd struggle to find a bike-friendly hotel in Cardiff (i.e one with secure storage)? Had two bikes nicked on a previous trip, so very wary now.

Also, the groom has expressly stated that he doesn't want to be dragged round a load of clubs or anything, so the Cardiff nightlife isn't a huge plus. Come to think of it, if I have to ride Cwmcarn the following day I'm not sure I could face that either...

ears Keen to hear about the new bike park. We'll be visiting in September. Probably end of the month.

Okay, avoid Cardiff then, nightlife is wild and messy unless you can find some of the more 'locals' bars and stuff - I'm not one for clubs either, haven't been for a night out in Cardiff for at least 5 years, despite living there.

The best MTB friendly places seem to be near Afan, but Westwood Villas seems to be the name I hear a lot for staying near CC.

Thanks, will give that a Google.

On a related note, does anyone have any particular recommendations for bike hire in the area? (I've got the list from http://www.mbwales.com/en/content/cms/centres/cwmc...shops_and/bike_hireshops_and.aspx)

Cwmcarn has its own wooden Pods. Contact them for information on booking and pricing.

We stay here - http://www.windways.co.uk/WINDWAYS_NEUADD_AFAN_Acc...

About 50 mins from Cwmcarn. Sleeps 10. Has a pool table!! Opposite this http://www.mountain-bike-accommodation.com/rooms which does food and has a bar.

Bike hire just down the road.

But its Afan. Not Cwmcarn...

Cwmcarn works better for us as we're all coming down from London after work, but would certainly considered carrying on a little down the M4. I used to live in Swansea, so I've ridden Afan quite a bit.
