Mallory Park’s final car race of the season

Wide-ranging programme happens this Sunday

Mallory Park’s final car race of the season takes place on Sunday (24 October) when the 750 Motor Club presents a nine race programme featuring sports, saloon and single seater racing cars.

The club has a philosophy of providing affordable motor racing for the average man or woman and this is no better reflected than in the Locost Championship. Most cars are self built and all are to a similar specification, but none the less provide close fought action and last time out championship contenders Brian Mitchum and Brendan Dudley were pipped to the post by Erik Fairbairn on the last lap of the race.

There will be plenty of excitement in the Demon Tweeks/Yokahama Hot Hat Championship, with Mark Cunningham’s Ford Fiesta taking on the Focus of Mike Webb and the Honda Civic of Paul McMillan amongst others.

Races for Millers Oils JEC Sports Cars, 750 Trophy, 750 Formula, SR & GT Challenge, RGB Championship and All comers complete the day’s entertainment.

First race of the day is at 1.45pm, with practice from 9.30am. Adult admission is £10, with no charge for accompanied children (under 16), parking or paddock transfer. Mallory Park is off the A47, between Leicester and Hinckley. Further details from 01455 842931 or www.mallorypark.co.uk

After Sunday fans of car racing at Mallory Park will have to wait until Boxing Day (Sunday 26 December) for some more of their favourite sport, when the circuit’s traditional ‘Plum Pudding’ meeting will feature both motorcycle and car racing.

The Sports Racing and GT Challenge have a web site for their series at http://srgtc.org.uk/

I can't be there (commitment to help out at NEC Classic Car Show), so do cheer on Roger Donnan - who races a Stratos replica in the SRGTC.
