Just giving my rear brakes an inspection, fitting braided lines & changing pads. Having trouble getting pistons back into caliper, do they wind in or just push back in *with pressure off) ? Any advice much appreciated, as ever.

I got a large g clamp on them. They do winde in under pressure, in a clock wise direction. I got them started with a angle grinder key then applied the pressure with the g clamp, hope this helps. Try loosening the bleed nipple habit to relieve the pressure smile

I bought the wind in tool and wind mine all the way in. IIRC they go anticlockwise.

Mine winde in clockwise? I only pushed the piston back to about 1/4 inch so l could get the new pads in.

The pistons wind in clockwise, user the tip of a pair of pointed nose pliers to dig into the piston and apply pressure while turning clockwise.

Apologies for leaving it a bit late to get back to the thread, bought a multi pin caliper block (£7) from a local motor factor, 3/8" drive. piston wound in easily - anti clockwise. Thanks for all advice, gradually learning thanks to the Forum.

Just about to do my rear discs and pads - when the bloody rain stops anyway ...

Picked up the same left and right hand thread piston rewind kit that is £76 at Halfrauds for £15 on that well known auction site...
