Hello again,

Following my recent thread about S1 suspension noises, I have recieved lots of useful info - cheers guys.

Can I just ask if anybody out there can explain to me, in noddy language, what causes the "billiard ball" clanking noise that seems to come as standard on the S1 LSS.

Also when should one consider renewing dampers. My S1 has 30k (no track use). My understanding is that new dampers will not necessarily help the clanking - right?

Cheers

I thought LSS cured the billiard ball effect?

Hi mate

the noise you refer to is the valves inside the damper units (I think this is correct from memory) The Koni's are all like that, mine were shot at 22k but my mates are fine, but only done 13k so I guess its the luck of the draw and how hard they have been worked. the S2 dampers are sooooooo quite in comparison, but the spring rates are stiffer, so it gives a quite ride and more direct handling. In the wet its still a bit of a t**t, even more so with stiffer springs but now I have fitted some new tyres (advans) this has become much less of a problem.

I just waffled on the other thread.....

If I where you I would find somebody else with the same setup and see if you have anything to worry about... or maybe TADTS
