Just had some issues with the ignition on the Griff; now sorted and running much better thanks to Heath at X Works. Diagnosis was a problem as it was 2 things and ECUMATE was saying AFM/throttle pot when they were OK (turned out to be faulty lambdas and ECU as well) but we were talking about how hot the AFM gets and Heath suggested wrapping it in some heat resistant materialas he had seem other cars with this - I have a piece of that which would go round and am debating the best way to do it. Putting it round is easy but how to fasten it as I don't have access to a sewing m/c that will handle i, velcro is hard to stitch and think glue may not last well in that location so any ideas would be appreciated (tie wraps sopmehow?).
Best thought so far is to cut out a slot for the plug and use that to hold it in place but then ....

PS. I do have one of the aluminium ones that pop rivet onto the wing but haven't fitted it (when I got it I couldn't get the edge trim to stay on so eventually forgot about it - now thinking the wrap may be quicker but maybe I should explore the ali one further so any thoughts re which would be best and fitting that appreciated.

My bonnet heat shield stuff was falling off, carpet glue didn't work, good old Evostick impact adhesive worked. Messy to apply, but effective.

Or take your heat material and velcro to a good old fashioned cobblers, or bag repairers, or horse equipment repairer - he will have a sewing machine or tools that are man enough for the job

there is a wrap one in the Parts for sale which is snap on buckle clips made just for the AFM can't see it at the minute but jonnyZ does them.

Easier than making one up

Jim,
Just put one on the pre cat. Simple but does the job and 2 minutes to fit.
Anything is better than nothing and it is in an exposed place.

I have one on my Griff. Its a perfect fit and only takes a minute or so to put in place.

Recommend it.

I have the act heat shield and the jacket from John Z. Not sure how much longer it will make the AFM last but gotta be worth it, neither are too expensive.
