V12 Vantage S - The noise

V12 Vantage S in Onyx on the road this morning in Banbury on a 13 plate. Guess its a pre-production car. Not quick enough to get a piccie, but it sounded rawer/louder than a regular V12 (One-77 derived exhaust system I guess) and just looked planted on the road. Got me tempted now !
Same as before, drive it you buy it
I have and I do....The exhaust is a nicer note than a standard V12V
Agree - I was actually surprised by the difference in sound. Much louder and rawer than my 'standard V12V. Needless to say that I heard it before I saw it!
Will be interesting to see how much the exhaust cost to retrofit to a standard V12, but the switchable suspension could bring on a case of man-math.

Better still get the BR Exhausts and it sounds even better and I have more BHP than a V12V S
. Sadly still not a V12V S
Apart from the power, was it primarily the new suspension that moved it on from the V12?

Suspension - Active suspension with 3 settings, Normal, Sport, Track. However even in track mode it is fine to ride kerbs as the system softens the un-loaded side of the vehicle. Quite dynamic in that respect.
Brakes - Generation 7 (whatever that means) with a new disc coating and Vanquish size pads / calipers to make the brakes better / smoother and more progressive.
Engine - New VCT version
Exhausts -

Steering replaced with speed sensitive steering now, so none of that juddering and very heavily assisted at parking speeds.

With regards to the "new' gearbox, I really disliked the ASM2; is ASM3 a real change for the better or just the same with slightly better/quicker software?
How did you like it compared to the manual box on the V12?

HWM has been kind enough to invite me up to Silverstone for a test drive of the V12VS (Aug 21), and I'm looking forward to the experience. Although the oft quoted "don't try unless you're ready to buy" may apply, I am a bit of a traditionalist, and prefer the stick to paddles, so I am not expecting to be swayed.
The selectable suspension settings sound tempting though.......
....I'm wondering if I'm about to get myself in trouble.....

These things are personal, I understand the manual gearbox mutterings, but prefer robotic manual... Why, because I am still in control, no power sapping torque convertor, I can change gear quicker and never need to take a hand off the wheel to change gear. I can change down deeper into a corner and it feels more special to me. My Audi TD has a 6 speed manual box, so to me what is special about a 6 speed manual box ? Is it the fact that it is mated to a V12 engine perhaps? All very sentimental I guess, but for me it is slower.
I know people will say that all this is fine on a race track and as we are not, why do we need quicker.... My response would be why have a 500BHP V12 in the first place then

See you there Archie, I'm in the Black DBS with the pimped up black and red interior. Can't decide what I'll be wearing yet The selectable suspension settings sound tempting though.......
