964 Seating Options

Does anyone know whether 993, 996, 997 or boxter front seats will fit a 964.

I fancy a change, but want to keep the original seats as well.

I assume only the 993 rear seats will fit a 964.

964 and 993 seats are interchangeable. I've seen 986 and 996 seats in a 993 so pretty sure they'll fit into a 964. You might have to adapt the wiring though.

Nothing, but

My current seats are not sport seats - always fancied a set of sport seats.

Also my current trim is very unusual (rare) according to the guys at Southbound. Half leather cashmere with lined cashmere inserts - all ogininal according to the options list, but only available on the earlier cars. Hence want to retain them as they are.

Also I fancy removing the rear seats to save some weight. I have the space so can store the oringinal interior until such time as I get bored and put it back.

Some hardback seats would be very nice indeed.

Pretty much any aircooled 911 seat or 944/968/928 seat wiull fit into a 993. The only real difference was to the detail stitching.

Watercooled 996/986 seats are a different matter though. As well as being more complicated to fit theyre inferior as they were built to a budget.

In order to fit later style seats to a 993 you will have to remove the seats from their original runners fit the runners which belong to the car (usually 4x cap headed bolts). I believe that the runner mounting spacings are common, but its been a long time since Ive seen them fitted and I havent ever done it myself.
