Been at a seminar with my CC today.

She asked us ways to save the Force money

One bright spark suggested cameras!

She soon shot him down and said we were not having cameras in North Yorks

She told us of a meeting of all senior police officers where she was the odd one out with her thinking

Brave lady and I agree with her!

Sorry to be fussy (again!) Richard, but I'm hoping you mean speed cameras, in which case that's great news.

I rather hoped I hadn't been wasting my time writing to Della in an effort to persuade her not to adopt a speed camera policy.

Now can we make sure that North Yorkshire sets its stall out properly and pursues road safety from first principles.

Now we are two (including Paul Garvin of Durham Constabulary) so let us hope this marks the return of some common sense in road safety policy, and that it will spread from there.

Best wishes all,
Dave.

That's good news. Good for your CC. Bit of independent inteligent thought, a bloody rarity these days.

If you want to save money, I've got a great idea for an IT project .... obviously there'll be an initial outlay, but after that ...

Who said common sense was going out of fashion . good to see someone in charge of something/anything in GBplc have a back bone too, normal promtion route to that level is the removal of the spine and insertion of stiff jelly, and a speach reflex of "yes minister" .
N Yorks CC I salute you .

According to something I read a few months ago the lady was being driven through York one evening, and told her driver to stop the car while she got out and promptly arrested somebody for criminal damage or something. I can't remember all the details now but isn't that great. That's what it's all about.

Best wishes all,
Dave - currently in optimistic mode!

Good Evening..Dave..
hope you're fit and well this evening...

I had a good day...Spent a couple of hours out in the unmarked Volvo today...

Not long enough though...still had numerous enquiries regarding the fatal RTC that I'm dealing with...

Hello Gary,

Yes we're fine here thanks, I've had a good day in the office - I'm not completely retired* yet - and tomorrow I'm off to Cardiff so I'm looking forward to that trip, though the weather forecast is poor.

BTW I expect you'll let me have the identity of the unmarked Volvo in due course.

As for the fatal RTC investigation, what can I say?
Just take care yourself, and help others to do the same I guess.

Best wishes everyone,
Dave.

PS. * for those sniggering at the back I said retired, not retarded.

My wife met her recently at a womans police officers away-day.

Hence the comment about combat trousers and high heels....my wife (who is a plain clothes officer) was most impressed with Della...

Yes, I know.

PC rears its ugly head again.

If it ain't an accident, it's a deliberate....and there aren't many deliberates, so why change it?

That was down to Bumstropp, wasn't it....?
