So excited !

Will be taking my mileage up to nearly 10k on V12VR next week ! (I'm on 7k already, having taken delivery in Jan)

Leave Folkstone early Sunday am on the Eurotunnel, followed by long boring drive to our first overnight stop in Grenoble - then the fun starts:
Day 2 - Route Napoleon to Monaco - afternoon & evening in hotel in Monaco
Day 3 - Early start for driving the GP route, up & down the Col d Turini then coastal road to Lago Maggiore where we are staying
Day 4 - loads of alpine passes crisscrossing between Switzerland & Italy, ultimately staying in a hotel on the Stelvio Pass
Day 5 - lots more passes, then on to Stuttgart for the night
Day 6 - tour round RUF factory, then late Eurotunnel from Calais - I'm going on to London for Friday night then coming home later that weekend

The car list has had a couple of modifications but at the last count it was:
F430
F40
My V12VR
New Vanquish
Boxster Spyder
Couple more to be confirmed

Some great cars but still think mine is the perfect car (for me) for this trip

That looks great!
I really must sort out GDC membership rolleyes
I'm guessing I've met the spyder and Vanquish guys?
Watch the Col du Turini it is very narrow in places!
Traffic will be higher as France and Italy are now on their August holidays
I'd love to see the list of passes as well smile

Don't forget the coffee machine and the photos!

Yes on all counts ! New website went up a few days ago, though a few more refinements to come - breakfast meet in a few weeks time if you can make it

We did a similar trip 2 yrs ago, the refinements being the 2 days of the passes, where we are adding some and dropping others. CdT is my favourite road in the world ! Oh plus changing the last day from being via Champagne to via RUF

I can't believe I forgot, F458 too - you met him as well !!! The F430 is Nicolas & Dominique who had the silver 911, which they've just upgraded

And yes to others, plenty of coffee !!!

One week off, one week on this summer ! Some things had to go - you can't do them all and you'll now realise why I was more comfortable not doing a few things like the centenary weekend.......

Thanks for all the good wishes

I had an amazing trip but have been rather busy catching up hence being rather absent from the forum

some pics can be found here for those interested http://www.clubmulholland.com/index.php?pag=galler...
I have to say I'm even more impressed with the car now than ever before - it really is an amazing machine

All those miles, often 10 + hrs driving a day (every single on being hood down!) and the car never skipped a beat

I've now done 10,000 miles in the car, since early Jan ! (I need to get a 3rd car really to keep some miles of V12VR though if it's to be a real long term keeper - man maths justification)

Total problems - well, I had a call from tracker one night which we can't figure out why, the inevitable tyre pressure monitor fault occasionally, DSC 'off' once (restarting the car sorted that out) and at the end of a ridiculously hard day of mountain pass driving, smoke coming from the front brakes (though the brakes were still functioning fine and a Ferrari California we bumped into that came out to play with us suffered the same problem - both front engine, heavy cars & some very hard downhill pushing). Nothing else whatsoever apart from a very large fuel bill !!! ( I used over 800 litres on the trip)

The 458 couldn't pull away from me in real world conditions on the twisties,as I think we got to a point where the roads, drivers & safety were the speed limitations rather than the cars, though I accept on faster roads it would have been a different story. The other drivers were amazed at the capabilities, composure & control of my 'less sophisticated' heavier car

Clothes get hot & a little damp stored in the boot all day but really, it's an amazing car for a continental trip

Having bonded so well with the car now and really discovering it's capabilities, I certainly don't feel pangs of 'what if' in relation to some of the more sophisticated offerings on the market today - I accept it's what's right for me rather than a definitive 'best' for everyone but it does go to show, it's not all about stats on paper that determine the best car

Already planning next year's trips now....

Oh I should add, on a road in a country that shan't be named (we went through France, Monaco, Italy, Germany, Lichtenstein, Switzerland & Austria so let's say for the purposes of this thread it may have been Germany and then I won't get into trouble !) an opportunity arose that we couldn't resist - comfortably hit the 170s, roof down, with quite a bit in reserve............

Excellent, thanks for the info - I'm looking forward to the autobahns next month (and the twisty bits as well) but I won't get anywhere near your stellar speeds smile

Hi Jonby,

Thought you had been quiet lately. The trouble with these European road trips is they become addictive! We are soon to get our next fix: http://www.petrolheadnirvana.com/driving-tours/alp...

Can't wait, we are both so excited! bounce
