Hi guys,
i might have sourced a second hand v6 on a carb, just going to keep it for spares or store as a replacement.
How easy is to change to injectors, is ut as simple as changing over the inlet manifolds?

Hi Marcus...The inlet manifold is the main requirement..The fuel pump might have to be down graded...Not sure if the constant feed of fuel from the MFI is better than carb though..Ziga

Wrong way around Mark: the injection will need higher fuel pressure than the carb.

The inlet manifold is different, you also need the airbox with fuel distributor and the various air valves and thermo controls that sit at the front of the engine.
Apart from that, piece of cake biggrin

Whoops...Sorry didnt read it properly...Sourcing an inlet manifold would be relatively easy..Plenum easy..Good condition fuel metering head...WUR..AAD..AAD Mounting bracket and fittings not so easy..The air box can be source from a capri but the rubber cap and intake hose is again another issue..Also im not sure whether you will find new bosch injectors for the cologne so readily available..I and other's probably have enough spares to get it converted back but it would involve you getting some bits refurbed which is not cheap..Ziga

Thanks for putting me right Ian.. smile

Cheers guys,
Should be an easy swap then, retain all the parts currently in place and swap from heads down, right?
The engine is coming (hopefully) from a guy who wants his yard cleared, 2 colognes and the pick of other odds and ends from two v6 cologne powered kitcars. Anybody after anything? Should be picking them up next week. Wasnt going to bother if the carb engine wouldnt fit the injector parts.
PM me if you need anything and i'll check for them when i'm there.
Marcus

Any chance the cam profiles might be different between carb and injection...?

The Carb. engine has slightly less cam lift...

V6 Carb. cam lift (IN/EX) = 6.465 to 6.516mm
V6 Inj. cam lift (IN) = 6.700mm
V6 Inj. cam lift (EX) = 6.660mm (early engines with small diameter bearing journals)
V6 Inj. cam lift (EX) = 6.600mm (late engines with large diameter bearing journals)

These are cam lift dimensions not valve lift dimensions.

I would recommend a Haynes manual for the Granada Sept 77 to Feb 85, ISBN 1 85010 173 6. LOTS of very useful information. They can be picked up very cheaply from a well known auction site.

Chris.

See if any of the Tasmin racer guys still have injection bits that they removed for racing.
