I am at the accelerator pedal stage, and about to rivet the cable stop bracket. Has everybody drilled a 10mm hole in the upper chassis rail to get a smooth straight movement of the cable, ‘cos when I look down to where the clevis pin is connected the cable is straight sitting against the face of the chassis rail?? Am I missing something here (as in being stupid)?

Hi Simon, yep all pedals are fitted. The throttle pedal is in the hole nearest the driver.
Hard at it, understatement.

Hi Graham - I decided to improvise and fabricated a bracket instead of drilling through the chassis rail. I had no choice since I double skinned the front of my car.

hope this provides another data point

I have also double skinned the chassis on the GTR I am currently putting together, including the front bulkhead. Because the throttle cable moves through an arc when the pedal is pressed, I have used a rose joint instead of a fixed bracket. Also, I have modified the pedal to incorporate a strong return spring (adjustable) so that when I take my foot off the loud pedal, I am reasonably confident that the car will slow down. This spring is in addition to 2 other springs at the carb end. I have had the same set up on my Sports and it's worked faultlessly for 5 years now.

Here's how we attacked the throttle and brake bias cable problem.

The tang that's welded on the new throttle arm extends under the frame tube, so we did come through the tube.
The black cable is for the throttle.
Photo # 95 also shows the setup.
This is the EFI end.

We've added a second return spring since this photo was taken, and all has worked perfectly for 9000 miles.
