Quite right - I used to run a 3-litre X-Type too. It was Ford, of course, which engineered the 4x4 installation for Jaguar at the time.

I'm surprised that jag haven't already done this years ago, I think a 4x4 jag would sell reasonably well in the uk.

I like it, but it reminds me too much of the other "lifestyle" softroaders around at the moment..

I'm with you on that... also, I doubt they can make a better price too, unless they cheap things out a bit, which I also doubt. On the other hand, If that crossover had the noise taken from the F-Type V6S and the looks from the XFR, well...

The more options they can give to the consumer, the more market dominance they shall achieve and as it's priced cheaper than the disco and Range Rover vehicles, it will fill a gap they currently have in the market.

Not my cup of tea personally.

See the prototype being tested the other day its all abit meh! Really as every other mainstream manufacture has been there and done it already

It'll have the cache of being a Jag, and it'll probably appeal to the Chelsea tractor market (which is probably what they're aiming for), but they do seem to be a bit late getting into this market. Even Dacia have beaten them to the punch!

I wouldn't pay much attention to that picture. You'll find that's an 'artists impression' from a magazine. The concept is considerably better looking:



And as for the mules running round at the moment...they're exactly that. Mules. I wouldn't pay any attention to the styling. It's only there to keep the underneath from getting wet.

It's odd, the company is called Jaguar-Land Rover and they have a rather successful range of 4x4s. It's the VAG disease. I wonder whether they'll actually generate any new sales at all, as opposed to cannibalising LR sales.

the company called land rover also built a second full sized off roader in the form of the RRS whilst having a very popular flagship off roader in the form of the FFR a lower end model in the form of a Disco and is still one of the most profitable motor companies in the world!

VW group owns VW, audi, Porsche, Scoda, what else? most of these brands produce competing models, sometimes on the same platform as well (eg. Chayanne and VW Toureg).

so - await the sports car and saloon range from land rover lol
