There's Scammonden Dam on the 18th Aug, I was hoping to put an entry in for it but family commitments have put a stop to it.

Why do the single seater categories between 600 and 1600 cc have a star wars fixation?

Jedi
Force
Empire

I am sure if I look hard enough there will be an OMS reference somewhere.

Just a though that came to me this weekend at Shelsley and this seems as good a place to put it.

Anyway. As you were.

I think it was simply born out of the 80's era and I think kicked off with Jedi. Force was then started up by Bill Chaplin who then sold on the business and started up Empire. I don't think Steve Owen ever got sucked in and stuck to numbers, ( strangely barring the Hornet? ). Could be wrong

I think you will find that Bill Chaplin names his cars after various brands of beer, which are local to where he lives in Somerset.

His latest creation (doing very well on the hills) is called "Wraith", I believe.

Doing my first hillclimb in about 12years, I'm at Harewood this sunday 25th August
Trying to see if either the car or me are remotely competitive - fighting for last place in Class 1A in a Mini Clubman.
Any encouragement and support gratefully received.
A tow home might be appreciated too...

I am there on Sunday in car 75, I will pop over and say hello, it's going to be a busy event, looking at the entries.

Thanks Peter

Nice to meet up with a PHer.

most of the guys (and galls) who competed back then have moved on now I think, with a few exceptions.

Previously running in the slow lane in:
Clan Crusader
Lotus 7 S2 (Twink)
BMW 2002Tii
Caterham 7

THanks, great to meet you and your brother and all the other friendly folk at Harewood.
Super day out, will try even harder next time, maybe leave the grass cutting to the lawnmowers though...
