Rega RP3 - spins backwards!

Just bought a (new) Rega RP3 turntable and Brio-R amp for my daughter. Came to connect it this evening and find the table spins anticlockwise.

Am I missing something and being a plonker? Power to the table is via a 24v DC transformer that it came with.

Look at the transformer.

Is the + connected to the - and the - to the + ?

It'll be the transformer, or have you looped the drive belt on the motor spindle?

Thanks. Just studied the transformer and it's AC (which makes sense for a speed-regulated motor).

Sounds like the motor control unit.

I think someone has forgotten something basic here. transformers only work with AC unless the rules of electromagnetism have been repealed.

It was my bad - I knew that the power-supply to the table gave 24V and I had assumed it was DC. It's not.

AC in - DC out has been around for a while.
Shove 4 diodes and a capacitor after the transformer and you get DC.
