I don't spend every waking hour in front of a console so wouldn't know.

So i should just bin my PS3 if I don't want to buy a 4 I take it?!

I wouldn't bin it just yet, games will be released on both formats for a while I presume i.e GTA5 which I pre-ordered a year ago

Given how poor the network issues are on the 3 and you have to pay for online on the 4 like Xbox, I'll not be buying to find out.

It's not like the back-catalog of games is going anywhere, either. Enough games already out to last you years, even if they hadn't said they were going to keep releasing games for another year or so.

No worries, if PS4 games were to run on a PS3 not many people would bother buying the PS4

If PS4 games ran on PS3 with limited features then that would encourage people to buy the PS4 after they have realised what they are missing.

Due to the architecture differences of the two machines it was never going to be possible. You will, sort of, get what you are talking about as most of the big games will initially be released on both PS3 and PS4 as games companies can't afford to ignore the installed user base that exists for both PS3 and XBOX360. If you decided to upgrade you wold have to re-buy the game for the new console though.

depending on where you are, I am looking to do a straight swap of my xbox elite + Kinect + wifi + games for a ps3 slim or super slim. I want to try out the Sony offering before I make up my mind on what to go for come next gen. Interested?
