Is it just me or does the Forum just appear to be going around in circles......which is evident from recent posts?

Could it be that there has been an influx of 'New' people who have wildly different points of view or is it that some people cant think of anything original to post and simply resort to bringing up old stuff that they know will spark a heated debate?

From my point of view (and im sure that others will disagree), but it just does not ....for the time being anyway...bring too much constructive debate or enjoyment.

Tony, it happens from time to time, always has and always will. I suggest you take a break from reading it before it gets to you, then come back all refreshed when you're ready rather than boiling your blood and becoming another "gone".

Don't forget that it's hard for the moderators to read every single post that goes on in here, and the report abuse link is just a click away.

Probably nothing you can do about it...

As an aside.

How many people would buy an old TVR, LOTUS etc etc if Pistonheads didnt exist?

Hand on heart, i wouldnt buy another TVR if i couldnt contact people on here and get sound moneysaving advice.

Just a thought.

Maybe its because us new ppl have the SAME point of view, we're posting it for the first time, while you've heard it all before.

And yes I agree that reasoned debate is far more interesting than name-calling (yes I see you TONEd it down!), "giving it large" about how much you like to obstruct the BiB, etc.

nope, I wouldn't. When I wanted an S3, my head told me to buy an Alfa Spider (new shape) as I am not mechanically trained or even experienced and I knew nothing about cars. My mate came to the first ever S club heaven meeting at Virginia Water with me and said "get the alfa" after we chatted to some owners and they talked of the mechanical woes. I just nodded my head.

It was only the level of help that was offered by PH that made me take the leap. Now I replace parts without thinking, know how to find simple electrical faults, changed door solenoids, headlight lens, etc etc. I can also help in diagnosing other peoples faults on PH and return the valuable help given to me 3 years ago. Without that help, I would never have bought any TVR.

With regards to this particular forum, I used to enjoy the assistance of the friendly Bib without the patronising and conformist opinions of some of the newer contributors that do a very good impression of having a chip on their shoulder. So I tend to stick away these days unless I can help someone on a legal issue.

Of course i did...not wishing to drop down to the gutter level of some posters i could mention.

Why use a paragraph of attention seeking rubbish when one word would do

I bought my TVR first, joined the TVRCC 9 months later, found out about PH from folks at a TVRCC event.

Not saying who actually told me in case you know where they live!

I find the site informative and a lot of it is down to the feedback /info. we get from B.I.B.- I do'nt. mix with any police officers(the small number I have met seem to be quite insular)+ so it's nice to see you as ordinary people just trying to do your job.

Like anything, be it a newspaper , magazine etc. some things wo'nt. interest or deal with stuff we already know about.

Maybe you just need a break - I hope that you come back refreshed.

Regards

I think a lot of the circular nature of the discussions revolve, for example, around entrenched views on speed limits, effectively saying "the law is the law", despite all the research on websites such as safespeed.

I have not seen any sensible counter arguments to the safespeed site, but I have seen comments like "...a lot of fancy words..." and "...there is a lot which I disagree with so I haven't read all of it..." and so on.

Not well-argued counters, just vague opinion, hence the continued "law is the law" and "speed kills" type comments - again and again.
