For one reason and another, last night i stopped an HGV near the M4. It soon became apparent that it had a major diesel leak (continuous flow).
The matter was made worse because he knew about it and was driving to Manchester.

I asked the driver if he rode Motorbikes to which replied, "No i dont Officer".

Well done.

It wouldn't take much to stop this from happening, maybe a filler cap which doesn't let the diesel spill out and make it a mandatory part of the mot to have this fitted. The amount of spills I have seen in the last few weeks since the weather has been crap is unbelieveable, just for the driver to be able to get an extra mile or two before he has to fill up again.

Not only bikes, young sir.

I couldn't understand why the motorcycle plod was standing on the inside lane of the roundabout....

I couldn't understand why the traffic car was parked past the roundabout exit, firing stobes......

Then I tried to stop at the next set of traffic lights....

Shiiiiiiiiiiii....................

Nice one Tonyrec.
Glad you mentioned bikes.
F*****g tosser.( him not you ) There was a very sad story in MCN a few months back about a biker who was killed in Wales when he hit a diesel spill at 40mph ....YES ONLY 40MPH and he lost control and hit a car head on coming the other way. Diesel spills ARE LETHAL !!!

He knew about the diesel spill and carried on driving? That's just great, isn't it? So if I (or any of the rest of us on two wheels) had been heading towards the M4, given the volume of traffic, I'd have been off and under a car or truck. All because someone can't be arsed to rectify a fault.

I think a reasonable penalty would be a set of bike keys, a nice heavy bike, and a diesel-spill roundabout to negotiate at, let's say, 30mph.

Same would apply to the drivers who tailgate me on the bike on wet roundabouts.

Obviously you are perfectly correct Tony, but to expand it just a little bit.......... it actually prohibits the vehicle from being moved under it`s own power until the fault is rectified. The way you put it made it sound like a temporary driving ban. (not that the tw@t doesn`t deserve one).

Well done . On a similar theme, driving back from the Berkshire TVRCC meeting last night on the M4 I came up behind a truck towing a loaded car trailer. The trailer and the truck had absolutly no lights on the backs of either, good job I saw the reflectors through the murk, and when I looked in my mirror I saw he only had one headlamp working! From the knackerd state of the truck I assume it was Pikeys on a mission. Rich...

You are quite right Steve.
But it also needs to have a new MOT before its allowed back on the road.

With Goods Vehicle Testing Stations, you need to make an appointment, and they can take several days. They are unlike Mot stations for cars when you can normally just turn up.
