I'm doing a tour of Scotland over the August bank holiday and my route takes me from West Wales via Carnforth to Fort William then..... up the A82 to Invergarry, then on the A87, A890 to Achnasheen, A832 to Braemore then to Ullapool straight up to Durness and over to John O'Groats. Sooooooo after all that mileage where can I get fuel? I'll be on my bike so range is 160 to 180 miles with luggage. Will I need to get fuel wherever I see it or are there plenty of stops around the more major Highland routes?

There is plenty of fuel up there, it's just expensive. A lot of the fuel stations are automatic now, which is damn handy on a sunday. Fill up if you see fuel after 50miles & you'll be fine.

Spot on, thanks LG. That's kinda the advice I was given so that's what I'll do. Thanks!

I find this quite helpful too - http://gleaner.co.uk/network.html - Gleaner took on pretty much all the ex-Shell sites north/west of Loch Ness a few years ago

I've toured up there on bike with no Speedo/mileage reading and no reserve tap. I didn't run out by following my own advice.
