Hey everyone... I live in the States & I'm new to Pistonheads (and TVRs). I just bought my first TVR. I now need help from the experts. I've got a small oil leak fr/the valve cover & a bigger leak fr/the inlet manifold. I ordered the gaskets, they ship Monday. But, I need to know the torque specs for both. The car is a 1987 S1. Can anyone help? I've ordered the Sierra V6 and Capri Haynes manuals, but they haven't arrived. Thanks!

Inlet manifold should be tightened in stages...
Stage 1 3 to 6 lb ft
Stage 2 6 to 11
Stage 3 11 to 16
Stage 4 16 to 19
Then re-torque to 19 when engine at operating temperature.
Sequence is (un-like cylinder heads) from ends inwards.
Rocker covers are 4 to 6 lb ft but my own opinion is these are better done by "feel". It is very easy to over tighten and squash the gaskets (or even strip threads in the alloy inlet manifold), maybe use a socket on a screwdriver type adapter rather than a ratchet?
And check the faces of the rocker covers are not distorted from previous over enthusiasm !
Agree with Mike above. But as well as doing the inlet manifold in stages I'd also recommend using some of the instant gasket silicon sealant as well as the gasket itself. This helps seal the manifold which is difficult to achieve in the "V" of the engine even when following the tightening sequence.
Note mine is a 2.9 so slightly different to yours but I believe the inlet manifold arrangement is similar

Loach1, you haven't had it long.. After all the effort to import.. What happened..?
Well, it's bitter-sweet for me. One day, I found myself at a car show, without my family, in the NC heat, thinking about what I was doing. I realized that I was spending most weekends like that, and needed to change it. I tried hard to improve the family/car balance but kept failing so I very reluctantantly put the car up for sale. For a while I thought I was in the clear - there was some interest but nothing serious until one day a chap from St Louis drove 800 miles each way to take a look at it! We made a deal and now he gets to enjoy the best S Series in North America. I have installed a zipline for the kids and enjoyed my down time more.A big part of the problem for me was how nice the car was (an still is). I couldn't resist polishing it up, or taking to a show. I didn't use it if there was a chance of rain. I'd never had anything quite that nice before, so it became an obsession, something I worried too much about. I'm better suited to something that's a bit rough around the edges that can be driven hard and put away wet.
Watch this space - I've got lots of TVR plans for the future.....
Cheers,
David
