Sky without landline

These days it is yes, but only a single box. If you want more than one box the contract T's and C's state the boxes must be connected to a fixed, working landline.
This is the answer & it's to stop neighbours etc sharing the feed. Sounds stupid, but it does happen quite a lot and yes I have seen it!Back in the early days of cable TV, the percentage of pubs taking 2 boxes was over 90%. One box upstairs, one in the "bedroom" - normally with about 20m of cable left behind "in case the wife wants it in a different bedroom......".
I've had Sky for 8 years here & never had it connected to a phone line. It does mean I can't order Box Office stuff though. Saying that, it is connected to the internet now via the Wi-Fi box so maybe I can?

Yep. If your box has done an update recently then you will be able to use the 'on Demand' store with you box connected to the Internet and not a phone line.

This. Get the Sky+ app on your tablet (it's really good) - that means that you can browse listings and set recordings when plugged into your wifi network - and the tablet/phone works as a remote too. Phoneline not required.V.
