I need a Porsche. Ph-ers on this thread will not require any explanation as to why. It is self-evident.
My garage is down this alleyway off a main road. There is limited on-street parking and down that alleyway is a snug garage with heat, light, water and power. In fact the floor is carpeted waiting for something sleek and powerful to replace my TVR.

Here's the problem. The alley is around 2m wide at its narrowest point. I have safely driven a Subaru Outback down there with the mirrors folded, and TVR T350c with the mirrors folded out. Both cars are around 1800mm wide with the mirrors as described.

My eye fell on Cayman S. The handbook gives the width as 1801mm with the mirrors folded in and 1937mm unfolded. Sadly I have been unable to source a S Tiptronic with power-folding mirrors and am told that a retro fit is not possible.
Non-power will not work as I cannot reach the passenger mirror from the driver's seat and the road is too busy to pull in, get out, manually fold, and get back in.

Although I am told that a non-manufacturer fix is possible by a car converter, I'd be mighty worried about letting my P&J be butchered.

So I searched Porsche threads elsewhere and one or two owners suggest that a 996 is 1765mm wide. Apparently the rear wheel arches are the widest part of the car so there is no need for the mirrors to fold.

My question is this: Is there a Porsche with an auto/semi-auto gearbox that is around 1800mm wide including the mirrors?
My budget is £20-25k.
Thanks.

I am notably lacking on facts to back this up, but pretty sure that the mirrors are wider than the rump on any of the modern Porsches. Mine is a 997 2S (narrow body) and the mirrors are definately wider than the buttocks!

I suspect the 996 will be the same.

I should have mentioned that most days I wanted to get the car in and out in one piece!
The Carfolio link is most useful. Thanks.

Hi - I've a similar problem in that my garage is an older design with a total width of about 2m, but the door aperture is more like 1900. It is possible for me to park my 997 C2s without folding either mirror, so as I drive in I watch the passenger mirror, and line the car up so it just misses the nearside door frame. As others have said, the rear arches are not as wide as the mirrors, so there's usually about 30mm or so between them and the door frame once the miror is past.
Granted, I only have to worry about the door aperture rather than the entire length being that narrow, but I'm sure you'd be fine getting in and out of that kind of width by just watching one side, rather than worrying about both and overcorrecting yourself into a car-meets-wall moment.

My eye has fallen on this, on account of having nothing better to do than peruse the Classifieds:

Somewhat attractive, and I believe, thanks to the pointer to Carfolio, a slimline 1808mm wide.

Thanks for the advice. I was thinking of a daily driver that would be good for three or four years.
