My missus has yet to make the leap to SPD pedals so I've previously swopped on some flats when we were riding together. Said flats belonged to a bike I sold so as I was passing decathlon I popped in and got some of their finest cheap cheap cheap pedals (£11)

VP-565. Abominably heavy, to be expected, but what was not is for them to feel like they are indexed as you turn them. Can these be adjusted? I couldnt see any obvious method

They look like sealed units to me, you can probably strip them by removing the black plastic end, there's probably a retaining nut in there holding on the spindle, there won't be any adjustment per-se, but you can probably strip, clean and regrease them. You'll need to seal the end again some how or they'll be dead inside a few rides.
