There's still a while to go – but if you want to you can already get your fingers walking over the map. This is because you can look forward to smart times 13, which is scheduled to take place in Switzerland between 23 and 25 August 2013. The event will be held in Buochs, Lucerne – right on Lake Lucerne. This year, too, the programme has something to suit everyone – see for yourself¹.
PRE-EVENT PROGRAMME (21- 23 August):
For all those who don’t want to wait until 23 August, this year we will be providing the first highlights of our pre-event programme in advance. Over the course of four excursions and a guided city tour we will be exploring the home of our hosts to get to know it a little bit better.
- As we are celebrating a very special anniversary this year, on 23 August at 1 p.m. an excursion exclusively for smart roadster drivers will get underway. Our destination is the mountain village of Engelberg, the ideal place to kick off the smart roadster’s 10th birthday celebrations.
- On the “Rigi mountain excursion” we will drive along winding mountain passes and through numerous alpine tunnels until we reach Rigi cogwheel railway. This will take us up to “Rigi Kulm”, to the alpine cheese dairy Chäserenholz where we can watch cheese and butter being made.
- The guided tour of the charming old town of Lucerne includes a visit to “Max Chocolatier’s” own chocolate manufactory where we discover the secrets of Swiss chocolate-making – naturally including a tasting session! Alternatively, you can take the opportunity to become better acquainted with the historic city centre during this time.
- In a visit to the Verkehrshaus in Lucerne we will discover Europe’s most diverse museum for traffic and communication – with a guided tour and at our own pace.
- We can enjoy the unique panorama of Lucerne’s landmark mountain, the Pilatus, as we travel up to the peak in the gondola lift. And lots of fun is guaranteed as we head down again on Europe’s longest summer toboggan run.

PROGRAMME:
Camping: This year camping will be available from 16 to 26 August. As camping is free of charge please understand that each participant can only book one camping space. Please use the registration form to register.
Opening party: We will kick off the first evening as usual with a big opening party. After welcoming the nations and welcoming the clubs we will celebrate the 10th birthday of the smart roadster together.
smart parade: Then on Saturday things will really get going with the heart of the smart times event, the smart parade. The route will take us through four parishes and two cantons – let’s beat the record number of cars set in Antwerp!
Test: Get behind the wheel of the smart fortwo electric drive or hop on the saddle of the smart ebike.
Service truck: This year, too, a firm fixture at smart times: the service truck. After the long journey all smart drivers can have their vehicles checked here, and smaller repairs are carried out right on site. And it goes without saying that it’s free!
Exhibitor mile: Here you’ll find lots of accessories for sale and of course you can have your smart tuned and enhanced by professionals.
Wall of Fans: After last year’s great result we have the Wall of Fans with us again this year. With a photo booth, pens and much more we’re already looking forward to a creative result.
Party: Fans and DJs will get the mood heated up for a great smart times event.
Thank you: Last but not least as a big thank you to the best fans in the world we’ll be giving away an event T-shirt and the smart times 13 magazine to every participant (with all important information and the smart roadster birthday special).
And we have prepared a special welcome package for everyone who registers before 30 June 2103. Please understand that we are unable to present welcome packages to anyone who registers later than this.
