Just bought a 964 - first 911
Discussion
Thanks for recent advice on choosing a 964 vs 3.2 . In the end the conclusion seemed to be to buy one of each! Anyway, I bought a '92 C4 Targa, after having it checked by SCS Porsche, and will be gradually giving her some TLC to ensure her long term health!
She has a Techart front splitter which I will probably keep, and a techart bridge spoiler on the rear which I will probably lose - let me know if you want one!

Recentish engine rebuild by OPC, and a brake rebuild, though still needs a bit of fettling, then will be having new bushes and probably a set of Bilsteins, plus some N rated Conti's.
History is partly missing - if you know any previous owners do put them in touch, she is fairly distinctive!
Loving it so far - a nice balance between old school and modern, with tremendous build quality - mine has done 149K and you would not know it.

Nice looking car op.
I agree, lose the rear wing, drop it a bit and enjoy. The wheels aren't for me personally but they aren't offensive.
It still looks lovely and bright red too, unlike a lot of them now.
As goose says don't get hung up on the N rating. Irrelevant and costly. There are plenty of tyres out there that'll work fine on a 964, just do a search online for info.

Personally I'd go back to standard Cup 1's. Like the lovely example below.

Thanks guys. The comments on the wheels echo my own thoughts, in my opinion the wheels are a bit blingy and give a harsh ride on the current setup, so some 17 cup 1s were something I was keen on, at the right price
I think I have found some, 7 ET 55 and 8 ET 52, does this sound right? I think I can get them for around £1500, is this a good price for originals with minor marks?
A road trip whether LM or something else sounds fun if I get time off from the kids, probably a track day or two too, might need a brake upgrade then!

Yes those sizes are right but many of us prefer the 9J ET55 option at the rear (wider rubber). I'd say £1500 is on the steep side but original cup 1s are hard to find these days so those selling them are pitching the price high. Wheels are very much a personal thing and personally I don't take any notice of those that say 964s must have cup 1s or worse still.....D90s!
Those offsets sound about right to me. Price might be ok, they've probably gone up a bit recently. I sold a set in serviceable condition for £1000 about 2 years ago.
For track use you shouldn't need more than different pads (Pagid RS29) and maybe cooling to the fronts. If you get it lowered consult on how they can set the geometry to suit what you want out of it whilst they're at it.

Like it.
Contis are excellent, Michelin PS2 better.
