A little knowledge is dangerous, but...... all the steering wheel buttons have stopped working, all at the same moment. Would this be the classic ribbon cable failure I hear about, I would have expected an intermittant fault if the wires witihin the ribbon cable start to fracture? On a related matter, the control box ribbon cable connection within the control box is loose, what glue would be ok to use to fix the female connector block and printed circuit board to the lower item? As I'm in the building trade, Gripfill or Silicon sprang to mind! Any help appreciated. Mark.

Aah, made a new discovery, I mistakenly thought that the ribbon cable connected to the box in the passenger footwell (thats the one with the loose connector block, but its for the heater controls). I now know that there is a steering wheel control box. Is this fused? It sure is 'fun' to get to!

On my 1997 4.2 the steering wheel control ecu is zip tied to the flexible cold air pipe under the drivers side of the dash board. On mine the control box/ecu in passenger footwell next to engine ecu is for the
wipers, the heater control ecu on mine is above the center of the dash behind the center speaker. Could be different for different years, hope that helps.

Have you checked the connector at the back of the hub? Make sure it hasn't been pulled through or anything..
