Good of you to say so Steve but I'd need a very large crowd of wedge owners hammering on my door before I walk away from my current salary wink
That said, I paid my mortgage off in June so maybe I don't 'need' to work quite as hard... scratchchin
Feel free to give me a shout if you need a hand with your cars biggrin

Is that the one that had the incessantly annoying rattle from the clutch?

If so, what the bloody hell was it?

Hi Stu

Ended up being the gearbox, but took sometime and effort to get to that simple statement.

When we took the body off it was easy to split engine/gearbox , the clutch inner springs were broken, everything else looked good, we thought that was it.
Rebuilt the car with new bushes to the front end, cleaned and re-paint chasis(that was a job and half)and replaced petrol lines but the noise on completion was still there !
Removed engine to replace the trust bearing, rebuilt, bloody noise again but we knew it was the gearbox.
Re-con box fitted after removing the engine (getting pretty quick at it now) so the noise sorted BUT......I think that i have caught one of the pressure plate fingers as there is a different type of low noise when pulling off or coming down into mainly into first.

Not enough to put off getting the MOT and it seemed to easy the few miles completed to the MOT station but i cannot spend any more time helping the one fingered bandit and he has had a change of mind of keeping it to add to his collection (mr tank number two)as he is still building his extension, more like the great wall in china.

i am looking for that older tvr classic to do up......what you done with yours ?

The Taimar has been progressing nicely, and Ill have to do an update soon.
In short,
The chassis is better than new, and all 4 corners are back on to give me a rolling chassis.
Ive had the calipers refurbished and anodised gold, bought a stainless exhaust and renewed the Kunifer fuel lines.
refurbed Diff back in, brake lines in at the back, rack and roll bar on.

Im waiting for the engine to be completed and that will be all shiny and ready to drop in.

once the engine is back in, Ill drop the body on and have it profesionaly cleaned and then we are GO GO GO!

I was hoping to get it done for September but thats looking a bit tight now, but the older classics are the better way to go!

Glad you got yours sorted.

It does mention a major rebuild by the previous owner - i.e. probably Steven and Sean.

Dunno about 'desirable black' though; haven't heard people specifically looking for black in all my years of Wedge ownership... in fact it shows up bodywork imperfections worse than most other colours!
