Morning all

SWMBO and I are buying a house, so before we start charging through the phone book, though I would ask for recommendations for good Solicitors for conveyancing in Malvern/Worcester/Droitwich/Ledbury.

We are first time buyers, so price is a consideration obviously, but will be willing to pay a little more if the service is recommended/more efficient/less hassely! Does anyone have any recommendations of someone they have used/trust?

Thanks in advance

Can highly recommend Leonard Jacobs of Redfern & Co - not quite local (Birmingham city centre next to Snow Hill Station) but old school chap happy to make the buying process as easy as possible (including prompt responses by email).

Thanks for the replies chaps. The only reason I said local was for ease of seeing them if needs be. However I work in Brum so that isn't much of an issue.

I will get researching. Thank you

Don't rule out online solicitors.

Based on two recommendations, I went with 1stPropertyLawyers (http://www.1stpropertylawyers.co.uk/).

Was a bit concerned about being online (they're based in Leicester) but it was really, really easy. Contactable via phone, text or email, I could upload documents in a jiffy if needed quickly, and they're open till 8pm. Best of all, they were FAR cheaper than my high street solictors, about 50% cheaper.

My sister has used them to do her conveyancing, and coincidentally the people buying their house are using them also.

If you are buying in Droitwich, make sure that your solicitor has experience of conveyancing there. Droitwich has some really weird rights for brine extraction and protection of brine groundwater, an online solicitor is unlikely to be able to dfeal with those issues quickly.

Your solicitor does not have to be local.

I can thoroughly recommend Sarah Dwight, 0121 702 2100, sarah@sarahdwight.com

Tell her that 'matt' sent you. The guy she was moaning at about just how dismal many solicitors are nowadays - this morning (sat)
