I've attached the Rovergauge and been out for a run. At max depression, my throttle is only at 87% (0% at idle). How do I adjust this?
Also, my MAF reading tops out at 100% around the 5000rpm mark. Does this mean I could do with a larger AFM?

Hi Chris,

are these the corrected or the absolute values?

The AFM reading means the AFM voltage has reached 5 volts. The AFM itself can still flow a bit more air, but there is no longer any more valid data for the ECU from its output. Im told the last bit of the fuel mapping can be done on RPM and throttle pot, in addition to the peak AFM reading. Its a know issue on the 5 ltr motors. Putting a bigger AFM, and a remap to re adjust the airflow scaling can release something like 10 BHP and 12-15 ft/lb torque, but its an expensive 10 BHP considering the cost of the remap chip and new AFM.

Its worth checking you have near 5 volts on the throttle pot from the ECU- this is the same 5 volt supply that goes to the two temp senders, but seems to vary a fair bit. If say you are only getting 4.2 volts on the throttle pot, you will never get near 100% on RoverGauge. The instructions give you the valid TP range, and you can elongate the fixing holes with a needle file if needs be to get the values in range and twist the TP slightly.

BTW respect for getting a peak AFM voltage on a 5ltr car. Ive been a passenger trying to read various values at peak load, egging the driver to give it more beans as its still in closed loop, as we rapidly ran out of road due to the high number of leptons!

Not easy doing both either...

Went over to Austec today and they plugged the Chim into the Lucas diagnostics. All good according to them. No fault codes and they kindly adjusted the TPS for me and checked the AFM.

I mentioned my previous issue of the long term trim being rich on Rovergauge, so he checked the Lambdas and everything seemed fine. They also couldn't find why I was getting an ECU checksum error as they couldn't see anything wrong with it. Was tempted to go on the dyne, but a bit short of cash this month and it cost me £50 to get over there and back.

There was a couple of Cerbs in there getting the body-off treatment though!

Damn!!! I really should have thought ahead... thought most people would be doing an honest days work wink. I'll be heading down that way again in the next month, so will give you the heads-up next time and see if you're about!

The checksum error simply means the digital data in a Eprom memory location somewhere has become corrupted, or the fuel map has been altered without resetting the checksum afterwards. It does not stop the ECU from working as long as the corruption is not anywhere vital program wise. Its not worth worrying about as long as the ECU is not dropped into get you home mode.

Mine ended up with a P38 AFM as it was maxing out at 4500 rpm, but it did cost me a complete new chip and rolling road session with Mark Adams to get it right. Yesterday evening at Cadwell Park made the expense worthwhile. All I need now is better brakes and suspension..... does the wallet pain ever end? confused

Would it stop Rovergauge from detecting other ECU errors Mark?
