Oh yes, it's an annoying thread from an indecisive would-be consumer who needs the approval of a bunch of anonymous car enthusiasts.

In my defence, I will be ordering them online so I won't get to see them before buying. The reason being that here in Bangkok the choices are limited to complete rubbish aluminium pans, or imported brand name pans at ridiculous prices. So I was having a look on Amazon and there are some decent looking sets in the £100 range.

Stainless steel seems to be the best bet but open to suggestions. I like a good thick base, and prefer a metal handle.

So any suggestions?

This topic is not about food, drink or retaurants. Which cockeyed mod moved it?

Well I didn't see a Pans & Kitchenware Forum so I posted it in the Lounge.

Plenty of discussions of knives, coffee makers, barbecues, deep fat friers, boil in the bag machines and pans in here already. Seems sensible to me - foodies are more likely to give sensible answers - like on this thread about pots and pans from earlier this year : http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

Prestonpans?

hehe

Only joking... I can really recommend Vogue, ordered mine through Nisbets, have lasted about 7 years and are still going strong.

Do you use pans in the Lounge, or the kitchen?

Where's that belm picture?...

ETA more usefully: I assume you're cooking on gas, so decent aluminium is fine, I've had a set of Analon pans that are ten years old and still going strong but just gone over to induction so had to get some steel pans. Stellar seem pretty good but I ended up with a John Lewis set as the were similar price but prettier redface

Circulon pans. Even after cooking something that should be burnt and welded to the bottom of the pan they just wipe clean.
