Put this rubbish video edit together in an attempt to get over the holiday blues, thought it may be of interest to some of you. 10 days in Bourg St Maurice and La Thuile, I've done all the usual resorts, Les Gets, Morzine, etc, but this was bonkers, almost all super technical and natural single track, barely another rider to be seen and enough trails that we never rode anything more than twice.

Definitely recommended if you're heading that way.

(Furious geordie hip hop may not be to everyones tastes, but it gets funkier later on, mates bands)

This is why I'll stick to road cycling: there's far too much falling off in that video for my liking.

I tend to agree with you there. Falling off bikes doesn't really appeal to me...lots of pointy rocks!

Heheh, one of our guys came off on a flat, straight, fireroad and tore all the ligaments in his shoulder, ended up having reconstructive surgery and 3 nights in hospital. So its not the rocks you need to be watching... best believe he's not going to be allowed to forget that in a hurry too.

Rear view looks good doesnt it? I didnt really know what to expect with it being bike mounted, expecting it to rattle all over, but pleasantly surprised. I make all my mounts on the 3d printer at work, going to have a crack at a few more, maybe under the downtube pointing forwards, etc?

Where did you stay? We were camping, cheap and generally pleasant, but the camp site almost immediately filled up with irish gypsies (swear filter...), I literally never took my eye off the bike, slept with it too. Looks like theres some nice, relatively cheap catered chalets about...?

Can probably see the clamp fairly clearly here, it just went round the seat post.

Cracking vid OP! Brings back good memories, as we were with The White Room In Seez back in early July. Super techy trails as you say, often steep as feck, hairpins (x1,000,000!) but such good fun! And La Thuile, endless brilliant tracks! I think we did approx 22 vertical Km of decending in the week!

Happy days, can't wait for next year !

Flood, How many of the trails that you rode are 100mm travel HT friendly? I love the alps having spent time in the German side, and I don't think I'm going to have a full bouncer by next year and TBH I love my HT.

We stayed at a self catered (lots of pasta!) chalet in Montrigon. Can't find the link but cheap enough with 10 of us staying, plenty of space, nice balcony etc, and use of the double garage for the bikes and kit! Only downside was it being a bit quiet at night (i.e. silent!)

Just ploughing through some GoPro footage myself but it's hard work!

One of the best bits was taking the car up to La Rosierre, then leaving it and biking down. Just so much smooth singletrack through the forest, but pretty steep in places! This was just before the mayhem started!

A lot of familiar sights in those posts, you're not doing my alps blues any good! A bunch of our group did the trail down from la rosierre when we were heading back from la thuile, I gave it miss because my hands were blistering and it was early in the week. They were raving about it when they got back too, sounds like I missed out.

Dragon, I'm a dedicated hardtailer too, while I don't think there's anything there I couldn't have ridden on my ht (probably faster a lot of the time too), but you'd be a mental and physical wreck after a few days riding. All the trails are long and intensely technical, suspension lets you get away with making mistakes, losing focus, etc, not to mention easing the aching bones, blistered hands, etc...

So i guess it depends how long you're there for really, more than a few days and id try and get a bigger bike.

Ps, love to see anyone elses videos if you ever get them online...
