I bought private from this very forum. 3.5k miles, 2010 car. Went smoothly and much better for both parties. We dealt at Aston Works, whilst car was being inspected and warranty extended.
Very happy.
Did you pay main dealer price though eric? Iam sure you got a good deal!Very happy.
I prob paid £5k below dealer prices. By the same token, the seller got 3-4k more than he would have had from dealers.

Did my bit; Esprit, Alfa, Marcos and 911 all had to go. Had I not wanted to sell them, overpricing them would have been a great way of not doing it whilst looking like you're playing the game.

Couldn't agree more, are these people in cloud-cuckoo land with the prices? If you look through the list the dealers are cheaper and that's without a price negotiation....not that i'm looking though Guys if your on here these prices are just stupid they are main dealers top price you will never sell these cars. That one was a great price for the mileage/spec. I remember seeing it. this will give you an idea how far out you are on price.
I suspect the private sellers are ignoring the dealers prices!!
Not sure of the point of this thread really?
If somebody wants to try to sell their car at top book, then good luck to them. If it sells, it sells. If its way overpriced compared to other then it wont, but its doing you no harm either.
In fact if everybody marked their cars up at top book then it would in effect push the used prices up which is good for existing owners. Constant low balling and undercutting is bad for all owners and bad for the marque generally as it causes depreciation which hurts owners and puts off other potential owners.
