I love Cadwell Park.

Watch the sharp right hander with a tyre wall immediately after Hall Bends. - I have never mastered this corner. Also watch out for a tricky bump mid-Hall Bends - if you lose it you'll dent it. On the Gooseneck right hander don't lift while turning/braking, or you'll spin. My Chimaera was a lot quicker through here than I expected - it's all about balancing the car. Brake straight here and you'll be fine.

Otherwise try to get some air on The Mountain and enjoy - it's brilliant circuit.

Don't try to keep up with anyone - it's not a race and you'll only get peppered with stone chips. Best try to keep in the clear by letting cars past you early so you can concentrate on driving (last time I was there things like EVOs and Caterfields were more than impatient - not good track etiquette).

BTW - it's a long way to the circuit but on nice open back roads if you're doing the journey early AM.

Cadwell is a superb circuit.

As it is your first track day, my first bit of advice is to take it slowly. - If there are any instructors there, then use them! - gently speed up during the day, and learn the lines and circuit layout carefully.

Cadwell is a tight circuit and there are a few places on the circuit where the barriers are very very close. Please be careful when you go the sharp hill called "the mountain" as if you slightly out of line at the top when your car unloads it's weight it can spit you off sideways, also the next section after the mountain, "hall bends" are very tight and a favourite place to have an off. "barn" is a tight hairpin with no run off, so care and attention here also.

There are however some loverly very fast flowing corners which you will delight in!

Finally dont push too hard, look after your brakes, if they start to fade, then back off! - and dont go for that extra "final banzai lap" - that is whan mistakes are made. - Enjoy it, and use your car for what it was made for!

Did my first trackday in my Griff in May at Cadwell. Good variety of bends and fast sections to test you! Trickiest part is probably the Hall Bends- slow down enough on the approach and avoid braking into them. Nearly all the spins happened here. Turn in late into the following right hander to minimise drift on the exit towards the tyre wall. Make use of instructors if they are available-I learned so much on that day.

Sound advice and i agree with my fellow Ph'ers
Cadwells good fun i've been around there on a bike, ironically as i got lost on the way there i rode faster to get there than i did on most of the track!!
Enjoy it ,it's a killer adrenalin rush!!

well ive done my first track day at cadwell and what an experience. the morning was no fun at all due to the rain which combined with the twisty circuit was differant to say the least. the afternoon was great with no rain a dry track and the griff was outstanding. it was such a joy to drive the car how its meant to be driven without having to worry about the speed cameras etc. i would strongly reccommend this kind of day to anyone and cant wait for the next one.

All top advise said already, do your best to remember it and enjoy your day. You'll remember your 1st track day for the rest of your life - make it the right reasons.

Make sure you have 3/4 tank fuel or thereabouts.
Try and blag a full size spare, in the extremely unlikely event you may get a flatie.
Oil, water and usual checks before going onto track.

Wish I was going

i did the track day on saturday and it was an experience, was a great track even though not particularly suited to tvrs. spent at least 2-3 hours out as was an open pit lane and can say that the griff handled very well especially after all the suspension mods and was the best sounding car of the day! would recommend this track.
