F1 engine in my cerb
Discussion
Called the waranty company today to find out why they have refused my claim for an engine rebuild due to cam followers. Spoke to a chap in the claims dept who told me that due to the fact that the engine is a formula 1 racing engine it is not covered, because the followers are wear items that need to be replaced every 16,000 miles and the enginge needs a rebuild after every other race. After I stopped laughing i asked him to check my details on his computer which he did then he repetted what he said. After some discution on the subject he told me to write them a letter. My dealer has said he has heard of this excuse before and he is investergating. Has any one else come across any thing like this?
An F1 engine is a large bore short stroke engine, which is the reason it can do 18,000 rpm without falling to bits, they don't rev as such more vibrate. A similar sized road car engine has a much longer stroke and as such rev much lower.
This "insurance person of dubious inteliigence" is talking complete dingo's kidneys. You could always ask the imbecile which team uses TVR engines in the Formula One World Championships and hear what they say.

Check the small print on your warranty they should make plain any exclusions to claiming if they haven't it should give you some levredge.Putting things in writing and requesting a written response also helps, you could also speak to citizens advice and TVR. Good luck

Tell him you need a rebuild because it will assist your qualifying time. Also, tell him that you need it done quickly because you've just got back from Japan and you need to go to Brazil in the next day or so.
Just p*ssed myself laughing at my desk here in work at that one
