Has anyone successfully removed the stuck on Leven trim from their air vents or ash trays?

I'm thinking of returning mine to the standard black by removing this stuff and would prefer not to re-invent the wheel if some has already worked out a way.

Suspect heat might melt the adhesive but that's as far as I've got.

I suspect they're stuck on with superglue which may make them difficult to remove.

Be aware that the original replacements are getting both rare and pricey if you beak one. Are you sure you want to go back to the original plain part as they do look rather cheap imo?

Indeed.the original plastic fittings were no great shakes but I think I prefer the understated appearance.
If superglue was used to attach the silver bits I guess I'm screwed.

The air vents are push-in with a small lip on them to hold in place. A couple of mine needed a wrap of thin tape to fit and stay in place.
