Introducing the Mondy, and to call it a snotter is perhaps a little flattering, it wasn't even close to Snotter money
Here we are, all £200 of Ford Mondeo goodness
80k, MOTd until March and taxed until Feb
I bought it from a mate, apparently when caning it, she has a bit of a thirst for oil, which is a common issue it seems, however 100 miles of normal driving has seen the oil level remain the same, there's no obvious leaks, blue smoke so I will continue to use it and keep an eye on the oil.
So far I have replaced the battery, treated it to the wheel trims in the pics, as the cheap ones that were fitted were awful, and given it a good clean inside and out.
Initial impressions are very good, it drives beatifully, and i cant believe its taken me so long to get into one, they really do everything very very well. Hopefully it will see me through winter, so I can park the M3 up, a d when MOT time comes in March we will decide what the future holds for it

Thanks chaps, it was advertised for £300 for a few weeks with no real interest, when it dropped to £200 or it's going for scrap I figured it was worth a punt for a few reasons,
If it all ends in misery tomorrow i will get most (if not all) of my money back in scrap and cashing in the tax
It's MUCH more cost effective than buying winter wheels and tyres for the M3
It means I can put the M3 off the road all winter.
So far it's been the best £559 I've ever spent, once you include the near new second hand battery, new wheel trims and a years insurance.
Today I'm off to the scrap yard in search of a grille that isn't broken, other than that and keeping an eye on the oil it needs nothing else, I love the fact that I can dump it at the pub, supermarket or just load it full of junk for the tip with no real worries or concerns.

Looks like a bargain. As for oil usage, check you PVC pipes, these weaken over time and under vacuum they collapse and can cause excessive oil usage. Also check the PVC valve. All of this can be bought from Ford for around 25 pounds
I think it could well potentially be a bargain, but I won't build my hopes up just yet. I have read that the PCV valves and pipe work can be a problem on these, something for me to investigate later on.

Yes it's ridiculously cheap, however it was sold with an oil thirst issue, that fortunately I have yet to encounter, so if all goes well over the coming weeks it will be a total bargain.
That's 150 miles (roughly) to date, and oil use age still stands at zero.
My mate I got this off, admittedly drove it like his E46 M3, so heaps of revs and flat out, I however drive it in the relaxed manner it's more comfortable with, hopefully this will see the oil consumption reduced somewhat

£200 is an absolute bargain. Rear subframes and brake calipers seizing are known to be problems on those cars.
My old old company golf went through about 300ml of oil every 1000-1500 miles and it was never much of a concern for me. I just made sure I always carried a spare one ltr container. I've always carried spare oil in all my cars.
