i'm very proud that I still have the original hood on my 21 year old mx5, and that it still has the original rear plastic screen

my problem is that while the screen is still (fairly )transparent, and the zip still works , there is now a 2 inch gap where the zip teeth do not mesh togather

sometimes , I can get the teeth to remesh by unzipping and rezipping

is there any solution to this other than replacing the plastic screen/ the whole hood

I would like to keep the car as original as possible
is it possible to remove the original zip and replace it with a new zip?
if so, who could do this (on the south coast/ south west)?

any other ideas on how to sort out the issue without resorting to replacement surgery?

thanks

Not sure if I can offer any help, but I'll say that the original hood owes you nothing by now and a replacement will be more trouble free for you/valuable if you sell.

I don't know what standard of car yours is, or how fastidious you are but a couple of well placed strips of Velcro might do the trick temporarily (say the next twenty or so years...).
