A couple of hours ago thieves broke into our house, took both sets car keys and both cars off the drive. s.

The cars were my leased 330d and my wife's Passat CC. The Passat has already been recovered, damaged. The scrotes abandoned it and must have been picked up in the other car.

bks.

My commiserations. Not sure that smiley is appropriate, though.

Tricky one this as you don't know how violent the bandits could be,

Having at least two bad guys in my house would be more worrying than losing a car.

Best wishes & good luck to the OP

Thanks for the supportive comments chaps smile

Soco will be round in a few minutes but its pissing down so I doubt they'll find anything outside and doesn't look like anything else was touched. Looks like a pro job.

Hope the insurance co pay out enough to cover the lease...

I'm sorry to hear that. We're they violent towards you/the misses or were the keys in view of the door?

I'd suggest leaving the keys in view of the door, but out of reach of fishing rod etc

Good luck with all the st that will now follow and enjoy your holiday smile

A friend of mine had that happen to her a few weeks ago, except they didn't get very far.

She is partially disabled so had a specially adapted car (automatic) with the brake and accelerator pedals the other way round to in a standard car. They found the car about 3 streets away, I guess they decided it was no longer worth the trouble...

Still scary stuff when you think about this sort of stuff is going on.

Would delete reference to any plans for a holiday as you could be identified and get a return visit. Sorry about the cars.

This happened to a woman I worked with. Her company Focus was taken and her husbands Insignia were both taken with keys. They bumped the locks on her new house, took the keys and cars.

The police found the cars less than 2 miles from her house parked up. Police said the scrotes would be waiting to see if the vehicles were recovered (or had trackers) then go back for them before stripping down for parts.

The BIB also said its unlikely they would return to the area (scrotes that is) however a few months on another 3 houses on the estate have been done. I think manufacturers should sell a system you can dial into via a mobile sim and blow the car up, that would teach the little feckers!

Would be too tempting to use during a 'messy divorce'

Seriously though, I think future cars should be easily deactivated remotely by police. That would put an end to the crazy chases.

Pity there hadn't been CCTV in the car, partly to catch them but mostly for the look on the driver's face on attempting to drive it away...
