....about this scenario which seems to happen quite often:

1) PHer posts a topic, often asking for tech advice
2) Other PHers respond
3) Original PHer does not post a reply

Do you wonder whether they've not been back & looked, or if they don't feel the need to respond?

Normally a "cheers chaps/chapesses" would be appropriate, even out of politeness...

Yup... manners cost nothing... except a teeny bit of bandwidth in this case

I notice that too!

Also - person posts and asks for technical advice... people post their diagnosis... person posts to say "right i'm going to try x or y" totally ignoring the advice...

The one that gets me, is someone will post "I've heard you need to stand on your head to kick a donkey on the arse", someone else will post an informed, well researched post with links to evidence proving that it isn't true.
Within two posts someone else will come along and say "Yep, it's true my mate dave told me that you have to stand on your head to kick a donkey in the arse, fact!"
Do they not read the thread before posting?

The one that gets me is when people support the first argument with a later post, when it has just been disproved by the previous post. Do they not pay any attention at all???

Several Months Later

Do you feel compelled to visit your posts to reply to people who've taken the trouble to reply?

If you don't, why post in the first place?
