Post Glandular Fever / ME
Discussion
I had glandular fever over 12 years ago (just turned 34 now), I didn't have it as bad as it can be, but I was feeling exhausted constantly for about 6 months. I gradually got my energy levels back over the next few years, although I never felt quite as energetic as I was before GF (that might be just aging though). This has led to me being less fit and active than I was, which is kind of self perpetuating. I had the odd relapse of the exhaustion (a week here and there), for about 5 years, then it became fairly infrequent.
Now it is very rare, and I just feel exhausted once in a blue moon. Yesterday I was fine, today I don't feel like I can do anything at all. The physical tiredness I can cope with - I can avoid any strenuous activity. But mentally it really gets me. I don't have a headache, don't feel like I need sleep. Just an inability to concentrate/focus on anything, or get motivated in any way at all.
GPs always put it down to tonsillitis, which seemed about right years ago, but now I rarely get a sore throat with it, just the fatigue symptoms.
Any one else had these issues go on this long, or maybe it's something else unrelated?

Ive suffered with post viral fatigue since i had pneumonia 3 and a half years ago. Sounds quite similar to your symptoms. Ive had to give up a high stress job as a result of just not being able to deal with pressure with what seems like a constant brain fog. Im better than i was since stopping work but i still get days when i dont feel i can do anything but i have a mortgage to pay so will have to start back doing something soon. Gentle excercise and cycling have helped me though i cant do gym work like i used to.
