Apparently a truck ran the lights at HandyX, and ploughed into a car. This has been an accident waiting to happen.

Tell me about it. I feel like I'm risking life, limb and metalwork twice a day at the moment! The light sequences actually encourage lanes to be blocked and also people flooring it to the next set because it's often just possible to get through.

It's a prime site for red-light cameras; and a couple of strategic yellow boxes wouldn't go amiss either...

HandyX is a nightmare junction im am surprised that there are not more crashes there tbh.

For the fatal, i am not entirely sure what happened as i wasnt working that day. But there are collision boards up there by where the antiskid section just up from the road behind the trainstation (just where the pedestrian barriers are)

Im guessing it was Car v Pedestrian or Car v Bike.

There was a big smash on the M40 southbound between J1 & J2 at about 7.30ish, I went northbound just as crews arrived on the scene to come off at J2, then saw 6 or 7 marked cars making their way to the scene as I went off through beaconsfield and amersham. Could have been the cause of the delays further up?

Didn't see too much, just what used to be a black car - certainly didn't look like one any more, looked like a roof off job. Not good....

I was stuck in this - probably next to Gazboy - yeah, took a sodding hour to go about 300 yards. Useless. The congestion seemed to be because of A404 Mhead/M4 traffic turning right. I avoided the amersham hill side of things by cutting through cressex, but it had all the hallmarks of an A404 or HandyX accident.

It doesn't take much for that junction to go to ratshit.

The biggest problem is people who don't know the correct lane to be in. Some are fundamentally stupid, others are confused when their lane suddenly jumps to the left!

Anyway, it was a real pisser to be stuck on the M40 in sight of home. I should have gone through Stokenchurch.

Nah, I was in my Merc estate. The Porsche has just failed an MoT after its 18 month restoration for emissions... it's smoking like a chav single mum at the moment, something to do with an oil return pipe to the sump.

RLCs will be a mixed blessing. I'm an amber gambler now and again, but only when it's clear and I'm carrying speed. In rush hour, people will go through slowly when there's traffic blocking their way and the other cars to their left have started moving... if you RLCs you would get a lot of people being rear-ended as people would slam on the brakes on orange instead of sailing through. It works better as a roundabout when there's a flow, like Hyde Park Corner in London.

See that Volvo broken down on the hard shoulder in the jam? Wonder how long the AA took to get to him

My condolences. I read about it in the paper. A real shame and she seemed a lovely lady - I thought about popping in and buying her usual drink, just leaving it on the bar for her - out of respect and all. Not a regular tho', so didn't want to upset anyone. Nasty junction but surprised there could be a fatal at those speeds. Nuff said, don't want to dwell on it for you.

Hi guys, that sadly was my mum who ran Finn M'Couls, at the age of 51 she was killed as a result of a low impact accident, makes you realise that life is very short

Thanks for you nice comments you are always welcome into the pub.

Hi Mark,

I'm terribly sorry to hear about this. I lived in High Wycombe for seven years and moved away last year. I often used to pop into your mum's pub after getting off the train at the end of a long day and she was a lovely person. Very shocked and saddened to hear this news.

Mark, that is terrible. You have all our sympathies. I get the train regularly so know your pub; it's a shame a pistonhead connection has been made in such tragic circumstances.

All the best
Dom
