Catching a VC10
Discussion
Obviously they're operating out of BN for the next month or so, but it's not exactly local to me. I'd love to make a trip over there to have a look and see one take off (have never seen or heard one in the air and time is running out!)
Thing is there are no guarantees I'll see anything, and it's not exactly on my doorstep. Probably a dumb question, but I don't suppose there is any info as to what AC are flying on certain days? Being military I'm assuming it's kept secret, but being that I'm not in these circles often and don't know any of the ins and outs I thought I'd ask!

Its not a secret but VC10 serviceability is so poor the flying programme literally changes minutes by minute!
With only 2 left in the UK, 1 in the Falklands they are a rare sight in the Brize circuit. There are a couple of airshows coming up - again its no guarantee that one will be fit to attend!
Failing that, any weekday at Brize and you just might get lucky. Only one month left until they've all gone though...........

I've had a look at the upcoming airshows and I cant see any VC10 flypasts listed anywhere?
You might want to take a trip up to Bruntingthorpe next weekend though as they have a couple of VC10's up there ( most of the VC10's up there are being dismantled), and I believe one will eventually do high speed taxi runs. Probably not this time though, but you WILL see high speed runs from a Victor, Lightning, Buccaneer, Comet, Nimrod and Canberra to name but a few
Great day out!

Thanks, which airshows are these?
I put the detains in the other 10 thread last week I'd link to it but I'm on the phone currently. Don't forget that these forthcoming shows are only aspirations - they'll always be subject to aircraft serviceability. With so few frames left it'll be a lottery as to wether they'll be there or not. I think the only guarantees of seeing them are the final flights into Brunters in late September!!

Yeah I've done a few of the CWJ days. Missed this year for the first time in ages and was pretty gutted about it. Can't make this one sadly, but like you say next year they might be doing runs in one.You might want to take a trip up to Bruntingthorpe next weekend though as they have a couple of VC10's up there ( most of the VC10's up there are being dismantled), and I believe one will eventually do high speed taxi runs.
