XP SP2 Again...
Discussion
I now have two customers with exactly the same problem. Both are running XP Home SP2, one on an Athlon XP 1700 and the other on a Celeron 2.4.
SP2 was installed on both a few weeks ago and has been fine up to now. In the last week Automatic Update has downloaded an update and installs it on shutdown, giving a message along the lines of 'An update is being installed. Do not turn off your computer. It will shut itself down when the installation is complete.'
The only snag is it doesn't shut itself down and if you do a manual reset then the same thing happens on the next shutdown.
The same update installed on all 3 of our office computers with no problems. The same messgae appeared and 30 secs later sure enough they shut down as advertised and have given no further problems.
Any one else seen this and have any clues on how to fix? I have Googled but no joy. Can't find anything on the M$ site either. I can't even tell which update it was that caaused the problem.
