Just curious really. There's plenty of torque, so probably not much to be gained by hanging on beyond the 5500 RPM I've been to so far, or is there?
As far as I'm aware, my car is standard by the way.

I reckon thats about it anyone that tells you they are still making power beyond this is just flogging a dead horse biggrin you will probably meet/hit the rev limiter in the 1st two gears driven with aggression though wink

As above, look at any RR graph for a typical 500 and its all over by 5500 rpm just cos it revs to 6 and a half doesn't mean its gonna pull all the way and you will feel the power drop off in the seat of your pants which you have it would seem.

Still pulling very hard at 5500. I've just been excercising some mechanical sympathy with a 16 year old car that Ive only driven about 130 miles and don't know particularly well yet.

My 5 litre peaks BHP wise at 5500.
Rev limiter is at 6200
Peak torque is about 4200 to 4500
On the track on Wednesday I didn't go above 5500 as the acceleration dropped away quite markedly. Frankly I could feel the performance dropping away above 5000 rpm

I don't think Alex knows what a standard cam is! I could tell when I was discussing cars that were for sale that he likes to tinker. laugh

Normally 6000k. But as has been said, 5500k is where the power begins to drop off. 6k is reserved for tunnels and VW Fox drivers...

I went for a good blatt yesterday and generally used a gear down from my usual style. Much more fun and the car feels so alive with the revs up there. I don't usually go deliberately beyond about 5500 on an overtake, as it's all over by mid 5's anyway. My usual way is to ride the low down torque, but maybe the motor would prefer some revs instead. Don't laugh, but I got fuel before getting back to base and stood there with the pump and noticed I was trembling a bit from the fizz of using the revs through the lanes. It's like having a new car. smile

Why won`t the Rover V8 rev higher? is it out of balance? What does the AJP rev to.
