Quick question about steering on the Disco 2 (TD5 with ACE if it matters).

On the nearside front wheel, the steering actuates via two rods on what I would describe as the hub carrier.

On the offside, there's only one rod. There's nothing connected to the bit marked in red on this diagram:



I presume this is correct?!

That is correct.

If you get under your car and have a look, follow the link from the steering box and you'll see that it is only connected to one side. This is the 'Drag Link'. However, both hubs are connected together by the 'Track Rod', so that when one hub moves, both move.

The reason why there's that bit poking out, with nothing connected is coz it's there for a LHD car.

It's done like that so the whole axle can articulate without the steering geometry being affected.
