Does such a thing exist? TV USB adapter

Hi guys and forgive my ignorance, I have a Sony Bravia and was wondering is there an adapter available into which i can put a memory card stick and play films from it direct?

I don't know if there is anything you can connect directly to the Tv, but for £50 buy one of these and connect your hard drive or memory stick straight to it.
