First drive on the NC.
Discussion
Today I test drove a used 2011 Miata NC-FL for the first time. To be honest, sitting in such a little car was a little scary, I felt like other traffic could eat me for breakfast. But that's just something to get used to. How did it FEEL? Very different than any vehicle I've ever experienced. It felt like this thing on four wheels is actually an adults' toy, and not your average A to B Prius. I felt everything happening, mechanically, and it was epic. Every gear shift - clinch - SNAP. Like reloading a bolt-action sniper rifle. So mechanical and lively, I felt like I was in control of this awesome piece of machinery. Heck, I shifted up and down for no reason apart from shifting. I could feel the wheels connected to the road through my steering wheel, so now I actually know what "feedback" means, more than I was able to tell by just reading articles. Suspension - Firm-ish in family car standards (much like German family cars). Which is soft by sports cars standards, but it just means it's usable as a daily driver. It was actually a comfortable ride. Clutch - short, yet not too short so you'd stall it a thousand times.
I'm hoping this Miata will be mine by the end of the week. Problem is - guy is asking for a lot. I'm hoping we'd find a price that'd make us both happy.
Man, this was such a difference experience than my A1 or just about any Toyota or Mazda or VW I've driven in my life. Just needed to share. Congratz Mazda, you've earned the MX5 yet another fan.
