not directly, but as an aside, my insurer classic line has said they don't cover for track days normally, unless they are TVR organised......
however, the mileage done on track days has to be part of the annual mileage... so if i did 1500 miles on trackdays, that they don't insure me for, my "annual miles allowance" is reduced
i'm challenging this s i think it is nonsense, but it is what they have said....

That would appear to be difficult for them to justify contractually. They have taken your money to provide insurance cover for an amount of driving, measured in miles. If you put the car on axle stands in a garage and ran it in gear until the odometer clocked 5,000 miles with you sat inside it, they would have been exposed to significantly less risk than 5,000 miles on the road which is what they calculated your premium on.however, the mileage done on track days has to be part of the annual mileage... so if i did 1500 miles on trackdays, that they don't insure me for, my "annual miles allowance" is reduced

I think you're correct to challenge it. The part for discussion should be how you communicate the car's milage to them before and after the trackday they're not covering so both parties are satisfied what milage is taking place under the cover of that insurance.

Mannings won't cover driver training at Millbrook even though its safer than a track day. They cover charity days which is even less safe IMO than a track day :/

I've used RIAS, and found them very efficient. I've used them a couple of times, and the last application I negotiated a bit of a discount...based on my previous business with them.
I'd google TRACK-DAY Cover and see what comes up. NO NOT use 'Morris', I know of folks that have had a bad experience with them.
It's a straight forward transaction based on the sum you think your car is worth. Normally excess is 10% of value - although you may be able to pay more and get that reduced?

I should be at Millbrook with the Tamora in October for a day with them.
When I chatted to them recently they said they had never had an accident during training, so it seems to be a lot safer than going to Trackdays and I didn't worry about insurance.
On the course that I started (but have not finished), some basic car control and threshold braking on the mile straight was the first activity. That identified that the brake balance was wrong and they kindly postponed the training until it was fixed. Which was nice of them.
I hope this approach of building-up from the basics, will keep things safe as the car's handling is explored.

Yes, September with a mate in his T350. Appreciate the advice regarding insurance routes and car driving experience, including Nawarne. Thanks mate. The point about putting miles on car in any shape or form is where i can't see an issue, track, road etc, its all miles. FWIW, I went from 5000 miles inc track day cover with Mannings (£370) to unlimited with track day cover with Classic Line (£420). Includes all organised track events so long as they are with an ATDO company or a car club.
They were perfectly willing to insure me for a track day organised by the RAF. You have to call them with the details in advance and get their approval, but they listen and are very reasonable.

Not arguing with you.....but I found that they would cover things over and above their norm if you explain them to Classic Line, explain the risks or lack of them in comparison to a track day etc.Its super rare that two cars ever collide on a track day, but they do hit barriers, as one did at my last track outing. Only one bent track rod, and a scuff on his mudguard, so he won't have claimed. Yes, I have seen two track cars with tyre wall damage all down one side, but in both cases they were 500 quid sheds that had had a cage put in and some reasonable tyres stuck on, so of course the drivers were giving it 10.1 tenths. I reserve my 10.1 tenths for open tracks with nothing to hit.
Driver training should be ok - it's organised.
Charity speed runs, I can see their point. I saw some footage from one of the Cerberas, struck me he was lucky not to hit anything.
